Bhopal: Now Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will not allow operation of abattoirs in or outside the city. The proposal related to relocation of the slaughterhouses to nearby village was opposed inside the house by the corporators of both the BJP and Congress. Moreover, a huge gathering also assembled outside the BMC building at ISBT when the meet of its general council was underway inside. The residents of Adampur Chhawni area were raising slogans against the corporation for shifting the slaughterhouses in their villages.
The corporation had earlier proposed to relocate the abattoir running in the city to Adampur Chhawni which was opposed by several quarters.
When the proposal to this effect was introduced in the house, residents of the area gathered there which led to pressure on the council.
The proposal was opposed by corporators from BJP and Congress alike which prompted mayor Alok sharma to announce that no slaughterhouse would be opened in any of the villages located on the outskirts of Bhopal. The proposal was also opposed by members of Jain community who said they would oppose operation of any kind of slaughterhouse.
As soon as the question hour began, corporator of Ward 63 Daya Kathoria sat before the chairperson and alleged that the corporation was discriminating her ward on account of the fact that she belonged to a lower caste. The issue of lease renewal of the1,800 square feet plot of hostel of Jain community was also taken up in the meet. Abdul Shafique said the lease should have been renewed some 17 years back which was still pending.
Later, Amit Sharma also raised the issue of illegal construction work on the site. In the question hour Sonu Bhabha challenged the quality of work for the feeder line and overhead tank in old city under JNNURM and cited some media reports in support of his claims.
MIC member Surendra Badika, however, tried to explain but his answer did not satisfy Bhabha which triggered a debate and later chairperson ordered officials to take stock of the work of pipeline in the area. Congress corporators also tried to corner mayor Sharma over e-filing and the construction work at Upper Lake over which Sharma assured of a transparent work.
The other issue which was discussed was construction of Bharat Mata temple at Singarcholi near Manuabhan ki Tekri. The project is to
