BHOPAL: The central government might not have made any change in the law pertaining to Benami properties but the state government has announced that it would be scrutinising such properties in the state. Revenue minister Umashankar Gupta has directed all district collectors to get Benami properties in their respective districts identified. Gupta, in his letter to collectors, has asked them to find out whether the persons shown in records as owners of properties exist or not. Gupta said action against Benami properties will be taken on large scale once information comes from districts. The Central government is also mulling a law on seizing Benami property. The state govt has already made a law for seizure of properties bought from money disproportionate to known sources of income.
