Mumbai : Renowned builders Shapoorji Pallonji has been roped in to re-develop the 208 chawls of the Bombay Development Division (BDD) and work on the project will begin within a fortnight, housing minister Ravindra Waikar announced in the Assembly on Saturday.

The minister said that Shapoorji Pallonji has won the bid to re-development the chawl located at N.M. Joshi Marg and Larsen and Toubro has bagged the project for Naigaon chawl. The minister elaborated that residents will now get flats of 600 sq feet each instead of 160 sq feet promised earlier.
