8 virgin beaches to visit in Maharashtra

With the slight chills that emerge in the winters, there can’t be anything better than a warm sunbath at some of the tantalizing beaches that are not so familiar among all. This makes them fall in the category of virgin beaches that are yet to be explored. A trip to one of these will give you a soothing experience, better than any day at the spa. So take in the view of these amazing beaches studded in the state of Maharashtra.

It is a gorgeous town in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra that defines typical Konkani ambience and culture. Vengurla is often referred to as the ‘gem’ of Sindhudurg district. This stunning beach is a must visit to experience a relaxing holiday without any disturbance.

Kihim beach is a famous tourist destination near Alibaug, and offers a complete break from urban pressures. The waters at Kihim are as inviting but those venturing to swim have to take caution of the rocks strewn across the ocean stretch. The most breath-taking sight here is of the sunset with the Kanderi and Underi forts looming in the horizon. Spending time at this long and wide beach lets you indulge in the sight of the ocean and the soft rhythm of the waves lapping at the shore.

Ganapati Pule

Serene, sedate and unspoiled are the words often used to describe Ganapati Pule. It is a place that not only beckons the faithful to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesh but also provides for a perfect holiday because of its beach with an almost endless stretch the sparkling blue waters of the ocean. The temple here is almost 400 years old and drives pilgrims for a visit all round the year.

Shrivardhan Beach

Popular for its betel nut ‘Shrivardhan Rotha’, this beautiful town was once the home Peshwas. The plantation of betel nut at almost every courtyard called ‘wadi’ gives it a wonderful green canopy across the coast. Shrivardhan itself is a Taluka in the Raigad district.

Bordi Dahanu

This one’s another beach embellishment in Maharashtra, where a lot of chickoo plantations are grown. The picturesque Sahyadri mountain range dominates the landscape here. Dahanu is a small town characterized by the presence of the Warli tribe and the Parsis who have lived here for several generations. The place has been listed as ‘green zone’ for being ecologically fragile. The beach here is absolutely unspoiled which makes this place even more fascinating.
