Burhanpur: The District Panchayat hopes to turn all villages to ‘Nirmal Gaav’ under the leadership of the collector. As per the campaign, all households whether APL or BPL will be provided with toilets. The administration has also started an educative campaign by using innovative and interactive mediums like movies, plays, cartoons etc to bring awareness in the rural areas. Movies like ‘Badlaav’, Aakhir Kab Tak’ and ‘Sharm’ are being showcased whose scripts have been written by Collector Awasthi himself.

Names of people who do not use toilets are being pointed out to discourage such behavior.  The Assistant Project officer, District Panchayat, Praveen Gupta informed that the campaign is running in 155 villages where each village has two cleanliness messengers. 42,000 toilets have been made and 44,300 are remaining. The Panchayat is giving Rs.10,000 to BPL as well as APL persons with land less than 5 acres. 21 villages have already been announced as ‘Nirmal Gaav’ and speedy work is going on at other places.
