Indore : State Power and Mining Minister Rajendra Shukla has said Madhya Pradesh is going to take an important step by setting up world’s largest solar plant with a capacity of 750MW in Rewa.

Shukla was talking to media persons here on Friday at the Press Club under ‘Meet the Press’ programme. He elaborated the planning and achievements of his all 3 portfolios. He said that MP stands second in terms of production of solar energy in the country and holds first position in the wind energy sector.

The minister further said that a solar power plant with the capacity of 750 MW would come up in Rewa. This would be the largest solar power plant in the world.

At present, the largest plant with capacity of 550 MG solar power plant is in California, the USA.

The construction of the solar plant would start from January in Rewa and PM Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone of the proposed plant.

Power surplus state

Talking about power position of the state, Shukla said that MP was power deficient state during the regime of Congress but we made it a power surplus state. We are selling power to other states. We are spending 54000 million units during the Rabi season, which is considered to be the pick season. We use surplus power during festive season like October. Now we are planning Electric Trading and this could start from November, Shukla added.

Transmission loss bring down

The energetic minister of Energy Department of the state Shukla further said that we did sincere efforts in bringing down the Average Transmission loss.

At the time of Congress led state government the Average Power Transmission Loss was 54% of the total production, we bring down it to 27% and planning to bring it down to the level of 15%, a standard level set by the central government. Minister express disappointment that there are 1.50 cr. registered consumers with the Power Discoms’ but 80% of total consumers are making payment of the electric use. The consumers too will have to develop the practice of making the payment of right bill amount. However, the Power Management and Distribution Companies are turning to profit making from loss making.
