‘Won’t hold exams for Index, SAIMS colleges’

Indore : The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has threatened Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS) and Index Medical College of refraining from conducting exams for their students, if they do not press their staff for invigilation of MBBS and BDS exams.

The move comes following a complaint by MGM Medical College that is the only centre of medical courses exam.

Dean of MGM Medical College Dr MK Rathore had complained to the DAVV that the SAIMS and Index Medical College are not sending their teachers for exam duty to the centre.

Following shortage of invigilators for exams of medical courses, the MGM Medical College has to press additional teaching staff for exams due to which teaching activists at the college suffers.

The college told the DAVV that it won’t be able to continue with the practice.

Taking a serious note of the compliant, the DAVV issued letters to both the colleges stating that if they don’t send teachers appointed by the university for invigilation to the MGM Medical College, then they will be responsible for any disruption in the exams.

Besides, the DAVV also threatened not to hold exams for students of the deviant colleges, if immediate steps are not taken in the matter.

An official of examination department said that complaints pretainting to the SAIMS and Index Medical college are not new. “But this time, the DAVV has taken tough stand. We have issued notices to both the colleges directing them to mend their ways,” an official said.

He also stated that registrar RD Musalgaonkar personally called up directors of both the colleges and pulled them up.
