Indore : The Kamla Nehru Prani Sanghrahalaya (City Zoo) authorities are planning to free— Vikram and Damru— two leopards in the woods. They were rescued by the Forest Department some months ago and were handed over to the zoo as they were small. Now, their training has completed and would be soon shifted to their natural habitat.
It was said that they were rescued by the Forest Department from places near Dewas and Sivni. As they were very small, the officials fed them on cow milk and other sources. They even trained the leopard to hunt.
A meeting in this regard was organized and officials of the Forest Department were requested by the zoo officials to do the needful. However, when they would be shifted to the jungles is not yet clear.
“Vikram and Damru are now grown up and can survive in the woods. Since they were rescued by the Forest Department, we should not keep them in the zoo. Leopards like their habitat best,” said Dr Uttam Yadav, In-charge of Kamla Nehru Prani Sanghrahalaya.
