Indore : People will celebrate the 68th Independence Day with patriotic fervor, on Friday. The district administration has made all preparations for the day and deployed additional security personnel to tighten the security.  The main functions of the day, the flag hoisting and parade, will be held at Armed Police Training College (APTC) Ground. Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya will hoist the tri-color and also receive the Guard of Honour.

Along with cultural programmes, the march past will be the main attraction of the day. Contingents of District police, SAF, Home Guards, NCC, BSF and Scouts and Guides will take part in the parade.

Meritorious officers and employees along with freedom fighters will be felicitated on the occasion.

The district administration has also arranged bus facility for freedom fighters, who can board the buses from Gandhi Bhawan, Sethi Gate-Sudama Nagar, Patrakar Colony Square, Chhawani Square, Chimanbagh Square, Marimata, Pardeshipura, Patnipura Square, Mahesh Nagar and Tori Corner to reach the venue. The programme will start at 9 am sharp.

The I-Day programmes will also be held in various government departments and educational institutions.

A flag hoisting programme will be held at I-T Department at Ayakar Bhawan. Chief I-T Commissioner VK Mathur will hoist the flag there. Retired employees of the department would be felicitated during the programme. The function will begin at 8.30 am.

The flag hosting will also be held at CGO Building at 9 am where constables of the Central Bureau of Narcotics will present a guard of honor.

In a programme of Kalyan Samanway Samiti, officers and employees of Central PWD, PIB, Regional Publicity Office, and Central Water Commission along with the HoDs at CGO building will participate.

A flag hoisting programme will also be held at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology at 8 am and Director Dr PD Gupta will hoist the flag.

Various cultural programmes will also be held during celebrations of Independence Day.

Similarly, a flag hoisting programme will also be organised at the High Court, Narmada Control Authority, Labour Education Centre, AIR and Doordarshan, Soyabean Research Directorate, AKVN and Devi Ahilya Airport.

Flag hoisting programmes will also be organised at various places in the city.

Private bodies will also organise programmes to celebrate the Independence Day. Some NGOs would also distribute clothes and other necessary things to the poor and needy. Volunteers of the NGOs have decided to serve the children of various orphanages with an aim to tell them about history of our Independence.
