Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): The ëMaharudrabhishekí or ëParjanya Anushthaní, performed with the wish of good rainfall in Ujjain and the country was completed at Mahakaleshwar temple on Monday. In the five-day long ritual, 65 priests wished for good rainfall. Collector Asheesh Singh completed the ritual by offering sacrifice.
The ritual began on June 23 and was attended by Brahmins from other areas also. In the day-long ritual, sacrifices were made on a daily basis. On Monday, the collector attended Poornahuti. He used a sword to sacrifice a white pumpkin breaking it into two pieces in one stroke. Then he offered sacrifices at the altar and wished for good rainfall. The entire proceedings were held under the direction of Pt Ghanshyam Pujari.
On full moon day of the five-day Maharudrabhishek ritual, members of Mahakaleshwar temple management committee namely priest Pradeep Guru, Rajendra Sharma and priest Shriram Sharma also participated in Havana Maharudra ritual in the Yagyashala of Shri Mahakaleshwar temple. After completion of the ceremony, a Brahmin meal was also organised.
