Ujjain: As soon as Ujjain was unlocked on Tuesday, higher education minister Mohan Yadav and Member of Parliament (MP) Anil Firojia came out on a two-wheeler to request the people of the city to follow the Covid-19 guidelines. During this, both forgot to wear helmets. Later, the MP apologised for driving without a helmet. He also paid a challan of Rs 250 at the traffic police station.

Ujjain Unlock started from Chimanganj Krishi Upaj Mandi at 6 am. Here, cabinet minister Yadav and MP Firojia made a bid in Mandi and explained to the traders about social distancing norms and the government's guidelines with regard to Covid-19. Then minister and MP sat on a two wheeler and left from there. During this, the MP driving the bullet vehicle (MP09-2200) forgot to put on the helmet and when the media asked him about this, he gladly accepted his mistake and went to the traffic police station and got his challan deducted and also deposited a fine of Rs 250. Minister Yadav, MLA Paras Jain and several BJP leaders were present with him in the police station.

Meanwhile, a two wheeler rider hit the MP's bike. Due to this, minister Yadav also got hurt in his leg. After this, the two leaders, while talking to the media, admitted their mistake about not wearing helmets while driving.

At the traffic police station, TI Pavan Kumar Bangdi imposed a fine of Rs 250 for driving without a helmet under section 129/177 of the Motor Vehicle Act. DSP Surendrapal Singh Rathod said that the public representatives have given a good message in front of the public by getting their challans cut.

When MP and minister were moving around without helmets, the police did not stop them anywhere. In some places, the policemen even saluted the MP-Minister passing without a helmet. Some policemen turned their backs on seeing them.
