Indore : After hectic efforts, the city police finally managed to arrest the robbers, who looted the service revolver of a police officer and shot a youth with the looted revolver in Ujjain before looting an OLA cab here. Police from the city and Ujjain were trying to arrest the accused for last five days.

Addressing a press conference, DIG Rakesh Gupta said that two persons, who involved in looting Cop’s revolver and killing a youth of Ujjain, were arrested.

The incident took place on Ring Road. On April 21, Nikhil Vishwakarma, a native of Jabalpur stopped for relieving himself near Mayur Hospital around 3.30 pm when three unidentified youths fled with his Alto car (MP09FA2712). A case of vehicle theft was registered at Khajrana police station.

Service revolver tempted them

The robbers noticed a service revolver hanging in the waist of an assistant sub inspector SC Mishra and decided to snatch the revolver to commit loot.

They bumped in the motorcycle of the ASI and when he fell on the ground, the trio snatched his loaded service revolver around 11 pm and sped away in the car.

However, after realizing that they may fall in the police net as the car is easily traceable, they stopped a youth Vishnu riding on a motorcycle and shot him in his head from point blank range with the looted service revolver, killing him on the spot at Prashanti Dham under Nanakhera police station. The accused then looted his motorcycle and fled towards Indore.

Moved in looted OLA cab next day

The accused looted an OLA cab (MP09TA6819) at Super Corridor under Aerodrome police station area on the night of April 22 (around 8).

The chain of sequence of sensational crimes sent police into tizzy and a team of Ujjain police also arrived in the city searching for the culprits.

As a GPS was installed in OLA cab, the police managed to trace the location near Bhandari Resort at Kanadia Bypass Square and a battery of senior police officials including ASPs and CSPs gave a chase to the looted OLA cab.

The cab sped towards Asaram Square from where it was turned towards Bhanwarkua Square. However, after seeing a heavy police force at Bhanwarkua Square, the car was stopped opposite Takshasila Parisar of the University Since the accused removed stickers pasted on the looted OLA cab, the police failed to identify the cab lying abandoned opposite DAVV entrance.

By the time, the police identified the looted cab, the robbers managed escape by hiding in the forest opposite DAVV campus.

Golden hair turned vital for police

When the robbers were fleeing after abandoning the cab, an eyewitness told police that hair of an accused was gold colour. The CCTV footage from Toll Plaza at Narwal also confirmed gold-coloured hair of an accused when he alighted from the stolen Alto Car to push after it developed technical snags near the Toll Plaza.

Meanwhile, Khajrana police received a tip off that the description of the golden haired robber is similar to a youth Aqueel of Daulat Baug.

Accused jumped into drain

When the police surrounded the house of Aqueel on Saturday night, the accused jumped into a drain behind his house. However, after a brief chase, he was nabbed. His accomplice Salman Allahbadi of Suhana Park was also held while a search is on to nab absconding accused Salman alias Sallu of Gauhar Nagar, Parvez and Arif of Khajrana area. When quizzed the accused confessed his involvement in the above crimes.

Committed crimes just to hog limelight

“Though Aqueel is not a hardened criminal, he was nabbed twice for patty thefts when he was a minor in 2013 and was granted bail on the basis of his juvenile status in 2013. He told the police that he committed the above heinous crimes just to hog limelight in media and mark his presence in criminal world” DIG Rakesh Gupta claimed.

After stealing Alto Car from Ring Road, the accused dumped the i-Phone 5 and two cell phones of the car owners and stayed at the house of a woman relative of Arif at Dewas before travelling to Ujjain.

Arif, Aqueel and Parvez are the main accused in loot and murder cases and are addict of consuming narcotic substances Ganja and Charas while the remaining two had boarded OLA cab to move in the city but when they noticed police force the alighted from the cab. The service revolver looted from ASI Mishra was also recovered from the possession of the accused Aqueel.
