Meghnagar : Illegal transportation of liquor is on rise in areas such as Meghnagar and Jhabua, which are bordering Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The SP although has directed that illegal liquor should not be sold under any condition, but it is because of negligence of the police force that thousands of cartons of illegal liquor is being transported across these areas.

Areas such as Dahod, Jhalod, Anas and Neemadi have a nexus between police officers and the liquor mafia, who illegally smuggle liquor across from Madhya Pradesh to Gujarat on regular basis.

The license fee of all the shops in Jhabua is many crores double, which shows the demand for the liquor shops neighbouring the border region. It is to be noted that Gujarat has a good amount demand for foreign liquor. When it was asked from the TI, about the illegal transport of liquor, he replied that the liquor would have been going at the licensed shop.

He also told that no body likes to become a police source from Meghnagar Thana. When talked about people taking part in the Suraksha Samiti, he said that people are not keen to take part in it.The pessimistic replies of the police officer definitely points out that the image of the local police is on a decline as of now.
