Indore : If you are planning to sell your vehicle then go for its pollution check first or you can’t sell it. And if sold, you will have to present pollution under control (PUC) certificate for transferring the registration of the vehicle.
After the directions of Green Tribunal to act against polluting vehicles, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has decided to launch a mega drive against polluting vehicles in the city, again. The RTO officials have also decided not to issue the transfer certificate to the vehicle owner without the PUC clearance.
“We act regularly against polluting vehicles in joint drives with Traffic Police and Regional Pollution Control Board. Now, we have also decided against giving transfer certificate on selling vehicles in absence of PUC,” RTO MP Singh said.
He further said that earlier they had made it mandatory for commercial vehicles but now they would check PUC cards of all vehicles before giving transfer certificate. “We will launch a drive soon against polluting vehicles again as many people are still neglecting the norms,” Singh said.
He added that more than 60,000 vehicles with life span of above 15 years have been plying in the city roads and registrations of 30,000 vehicles have been renewed.
“Still about 30,000 vehicles are running in the city without renewing registration. We will also check the pollution level and fitness of these vehicles and will seize them. He further said that there are 29 authorized centers for issuing PUC certificates in the city and more will be started if required,” Singh added.
