Indore : Agitated over new VAT return form, City traders and tax advisors are planning to call for Indore bandh in the first week of August.
The body of traders and tax advisors, on Tuesday met BJP MLA Sudarshan Gupta under leadership of president of Ahilya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ramesh Khandelwal and general secretary Sushil Sureka and Gupta assured them that he would take up the matter with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
He also called up the CM’s office, but could not get to the CM because the latter was busy in a meeting.
He also assured the delegation that he would fix a meeting of the body with the CM in case the matter remains unresolved within next two days.
The unrelenting traders have decided to intensify their agitation against the move. But as of now, they will wait patiently for the CM’s response.
Talking to Free Press, senior tax consultant RS Goyal said,”If we get a negative response from the CM, then we will intensify our agitation and call for an Indore bandh in the first week of August. A meeting to discuss future course of action has been called at Preetamlal Dua auditorium, on Wednesday.
More than 50,000 traders have decided to assemble at the Regal Square on Thursday to pray in front of the idol of Mahatma Gandhi so that officials of the CT department would get some sense.
Later, they will hand over a memorandum addressed to PM Narendra Modi and CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan to the Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey.
Business organizations of the city on the other hand have started holding separate meetings to inform other fellow businessmen about the cascading affects of the new VAT return form.
