Indore : It seems traders and tax consultants will observe Indore bandh on August 5 to protest against introduction of new VAT return form.

Meanwhile, the VAT struggle committee is getting support from some more trade organizations. However, some expressed hope that the issue would be resolved by Saturday.

Members of the VAT Struggle Committee held meetings with different trade organizations on Friday over the issue.

The committee is working with apex body of city traders, Ahilya Chamber of Commerce. General sectary of the Chamber Sushil Sureka said: “We are getting support of more and more trade organizations.” He reiterated that they won’t accept anything but withdrawal of new VAT return form.

One faction under dialogue

Meanwhile, a delegation of industries body, Association of Industries, MP (AIMP) called on Finance Minister Jayant Mallaiya in Bhopal on Friday and claimed that the issue would be resolved by Saturday.

AIMP president Hemant Mehtani said: “We had three-round meetings with Mallaiya at latter’s residence and he assured us that the provisions of the new VAT return forms would be changed.

At the same time he reiterated that all the provisions will not be withdrawn. He called the delegation for further talk on Saturday morning.
