Indore: Thursday coldest day of the season

Indore: City on Thursday shivered under cold wave with the day temperature plummeting 5 degrees Celsius to 21.4 degree Celsius, which was five notches below normal. With the cold winds coming from the northern part of the country, the city witnessed sudden drop of mercury by five degrees Celsius from normal day temperature while it is about three degrees Celsius below than the temperature recorded on Wednesday. With further drop in temperature, Thursday became the coldest day of the season.

According to Meteorological Department officials, city recorded maximum 21.4 degrees Celsius, which was five degrees Celsius below the normal while the minimum temperature was 9.4 degrees Celsius which was one degree Celsius below the normal. Officials said that the chill condition, which is prevailing in the city, was due to cold winds coming from the North. They further said that the city would experience similar condition for next few days.

“Humidity level is high and if the same condition prevails and the speed of wind remains slow then fog will be enveloped next few days. Humidity in the morning was recorded at 68 per cent while it was recorded 33 per cent in the evening,” weathermen said. People were forced to wrap themselves under woollens and also lit bonfires to ward off chilly condition. Meanwhile, cold condition also affects people and city hospitals witnessed large turnout and MY Hospital, recorded two-fold rise in patients with complaints of cold and cough.
