Indore : Unlike previous two elections, the MPCA election, scheduled to be held on August 24, has been reduced to mathematical formula more than any thing else. To top this, the entire election strategy of Team Vijayvargiya has been handed over to his party MLA Ramesh Mendola, while Jyotiraditya Scindia, as usual, is handling the strategy on behalf of his panel.
Both Vijayvargiya and Scindia had been involved in bitter contest during the last elections and employed orthodox and unorthodox methods. This time around, numbers would play an important role.
Consider this, if Scindia wants to contest for the post of President, it would be his third time in-a-row and as per the rules of the association, he would need to secure at least two-third votes to become the President, which is well neigh impossible, even for Scindia himself. This fact would give an edge to Vijayvargiya-backed candidate because then all he would need to do is secure enough percentage of votes to win.
On the other hand if candidates backed by Vijayvargiya and Scindia contest the election for the post of President then Scindia’s candidate clearly has an advantage and therefore Team Vijayvargiya is likely to avoid humiliating defeat. Vijayvargiya, Mendola and Chandu Shinde would be attending the AGM of the MPCA on Sunday while Sajjan Singh Verma, Mahendra Singh Kulkheda and Tulsi Silawat will be representing Team Scindia.
In view of the above stated facts, Scindia met more than a hundred members at Hotel Radison on one-on-one basis and called many more on phone throughout Saturday. Scindia was particularly courteous to the outstation members. By late in the evening, it was decided that Scindia will be contesting for the post of chairman, Sanjay Jagdale for the post of President and Pankaj Pandey and Sandeep Mongre for the post of joint-secretary
For the post of secretary Milind Kanmadikar is the Scindia panel candidate.
Meanwhile, three candidates for the post of vice-presidents, two posts for managing committee members and one post of treasurer is yet to be finalised by the Scindia camp.
The Vijayvargiya camp’s strategy is still a mystery with no names being finalised for the election, but one cannot discount the chance of the Vijayvargiya camp springing a surprise at Sunday’s AGM.
The AGM will start at 10 am sharp at Holkar Stadium with tabling of audit reports of the last two years and followed by Scindia’s speech on achievements of the last two years.
