Indore : The last day of filing of Income Tax Returns ( ITR) for salary class individuals on Thursday saw less rush in Income Tax office, but more people thronged the offices of CAs and tax consultants who prefer to file the ITR electronically.

As many as 2000 paper ITR were filed at Income Tax Office on Thursday. Despite the last day of filing of ITR, CBDT was slow and overburdened, but did not crash.

In view of the last day of filing of ITR by salaried class individuals, elaborate arrangements were made at the Income Tax Offices’ Savottam.

Six counters remained opened all through the day to accept income tax returns. A separate counter was set up for receiving ITRs in bulk.

An Income Tax Officer told that a Certified Financial Planner ( CFP) was also deployed to help the individuals in e- filing ITRs. No queues were seen at the income tax office. Last ITR was received at around 8pm.

Over 2000 paper ITRs were filed today. Secretary of All India Federation of Tax Consultants associations, CA Rajesh Mehta told that over 75 percent of total tax payers have shifted to filing of ITR through electronic mode.

Therefore there was less rush at the Income Tax Office.

Facility of using email ids and mobile numbers of tax consultants, while filing returns too helped the tax payers in the process.

Can file ITR with interest and penalty before Mar 31, 2015 According to CFP Umesh Rathi, those who have the tax liability and could not file the ITR by Thursday can file the ITR by March 31, 2015 with the interest and penalty.

Those who have no tax liability but want to file the refund returns can also file the return by March 31, 2015.

If the return of loss could not be filed by Thursday, then the loss will be not being carried forwarded.
