Indore : Swine flu in the city has gone out of bounds as more and more patients and suspects of the deadly disease are coming to for each day. Medical care is on sickbed.

The deadly H1N1 virus in the city has claimed one more suspected patient’s life on Thursday. Now, even people from nearby cities are falling prey to the deadly disease.

With the death of a patient on Thursday, the number of deaths mounted to 18, including nine deaths of suspected patients. Meanwhile, the report of two more patients – a 55-year-old male and 23-year-old female have confirmed of the disease, who had died on February 2.

According to acting Dean of MGM Medical College Dr Sanjay Dixit, “a 35-year-old female patient died in MY Hospital. She was admitted in the hospital a couple of days ago and her samples were sent for testing.”

With the increasing deaths, even the health officials believe that the situation is not good but due to the pressure from the senior officials they are avoiding to speak officially.

“The death toll has been increasing continuously and now we also believe that the condition is gradually turning worse. This year, the number of positive patients is even higher than the samples taken in last year,” a senior health official said.

He further said that the government is claiming that the condition is normal and under control but the records are speaking the truth.

“It is clear, if the situation is under control, then why people are dying. There is a need of spreading awareness and to inform the people about the disease but the officials are hiding the information and left the people on their own,” the health official said.

The government has constituted a committee including medical college Dean, Joint Director, Health and CMHO, Civil Surgeon and a senior doctor of Medicine Department in MGM Medical College. But, the committee has failed to prevent the casualties due to the disease.

The committee is remaining as a mute spectator over the deaths. Instead of providing proper healthcare, the committee members claimed that patients are coming at the advance stage of the disease.

Dist Health Dept takes out awareness rally

For spreading awareness among the residents about the deadly swine flu disease, the district health department officials taken out a rally for spreading awareness for swine flu.

The rally was taken out from MTH Compound to Krishnapura Bridge.

Large number of health workers participated in the rally with posters and banners of awareness.

Risking lives, MY Hospital administration has deployed four elderly employees, including two heart patients, in Swine Flu Ward despite the fact that old people and heart patients are vulnerable to the H1N1 virus.

According to sources, all the four employees are over 50 years of age.

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or cloth when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.

Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

If you get sick with influenza, stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Viruses spread this way.
