Suspended IAS officer Santosh Verma has been sent to judicial custody till July 30, by a local court on Saturday. Meanwhile, DPO Akram Sheikh whose statement was also recorded in the case by the police vacated his cabin to make way for the new DPO, who will take charge on Monday.
Verma was on a three-day remand from July 14 during which his call records and voice forensics were done on the audios recovered from his phone. Verma was promoted to the IAS cadre on the basis of forged court orders, which purportedly gave him a clean chit in a assault case registered at the Lasudia police station. After getting the IAS cadre he was posted as additional commissioner in the urban administration and development department in Bhopal.
Sheikh was promoted on July 14 and he will join as assistant director in the Public Prosecution Directorate, Bhopal. In his place, DPO (Rewa) Sanjeev Shrivastava has been transferred to Indore.
