Several bridges constructed in rural areas over Gambhir, Chambal rivers
Indore: Gambhir and Chambal rivers intercept several village roads. MP Sumitra Mahajan has not only made efforts for roads to 624 villages of her parliamentary area and 525 villages further to Mhow, but also got constructed several bridges for infrastructure development.
It was her efforts that brought several bridges constructed even when there was no provision for bridge construction under the Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak ojana. Mahajan conducts meetings of all construction departments every three to four months.
She also coordinates the possibilities of development and government plans. On Chambal river, where there used to be only one bridge, today has five to six bridges. This has well- connected Indore with rural area of Ujjain and Dhar.
A high- quality bridge ( 165 meter) is under construction over Chanbal river on Depalpur- Semda road. On Badhauda- Atyana Road, a 210 meter long bridge has been constructed over Chambal river at the cost of Rs 306 lakh. From Depalpur- Gautampura road to Kunmgara road, a 270 meter is constructed over river Chambal. The route directly connects Depalpur tehsil to Barnagar tehsil ( Ujjain) and it is the longest among all the bridges under the Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak ojana.
Work is in progress for construction of bridge on bypass to village Panod road. Orders have also been released for construction of bridge on Purvada Happa to Machhukhedi.
Other bridges that are in pipeline under the Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak ojana include Daulatabad bridge, Shivgarh bridge, Bibikhedi bridge and Katakya bridge.
