Indore: City in- charge of ‘ Run for unity’, Kailash Vijayvargiya along with co- in charge Jitu Jirati and city BJP chief Shankar Lalwani held a press conference to inform about the event to be held on December 23. The ‘ run’ is a part of the nation- wide ‘ Run for unity’ programme which is organised under the flagship of ‘ statue of unity’ mission by BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
City on- Charge Vijayvargiya informed media persons that the run would start from Patel statute at Chhoti Gwaltoli and will culminate at Gandhi statute at Regal Square.He added, “ To ensure the public involvement in the Statue of Unity, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has started this nation- wide programme.
Nearly 1.87 lakh panchayats and wards of the country will be a part of this run.” “ 10 lakh photographs of ground level representatives will be accumulated to create world’s largest collage which will be revealed on the day of unveiling the statue,” he said.
About collection of iron and soil for the statue he said, “ The soil and iron for the statue will be collected from farmers of various villages.This will be carried to Gujarat by 300 trucks deployed for the purpose.” He further added “ on December 15 too, 50 lakh people ran under this programme.
The run was also carried out in the city but was not successful due to lack of promotion. Hence we have decided to conduct it again on December 23.” Vijayvargiya organised a meeting with the heads of the BJM and the BJP Minority Cell for this purpose on Thursday and invited several dignitaries of the city to make it a success.
