Violators will be fined Rs. 200 

Indore: The department of higher education has resolved to make the college premises of the state as smoking and tobacco free. It is declared that, within the 100-meter distance from the college premises, selling and consumption of all types of tobacco products can be fined for Rs. 200. The department has also directed all college principals, to display this notice on any board, near the entry gate of the college.

If somebody would be found violating this notice and if it is found that, college authorities have not taken any action against him (or her), then the amount of fine will be charged over the head of the institution. Hence, the principals and teachers of institutions are made authorized for taking action under the section 4 of cigarette and tobacco product control act 2003.

Under the above mentioned act all public places are listed as prohibited areas for smoking like government offices, hospitals, hotels, cinema halls, malls, bus-stops, tea-stalls, educational institutions, etc. Now, colleges are separately mentioned by this order from the department.
