Indore : The Annual Health Survey of India reveals that sex ratio in Indore District is only 901 which fall under the critical category. Indore is also placed in the list of 16 low performing districts of the State. This was stated by doctors during a review meeting of PCPNDT Act chaired by Joint Director, Health Dr Sharad Pandit.
Addressing the conference, Dr Pandit said that the status of sex ratio is very poor in urban areas in comparison to rural areas.
“Alirajpur tops the chart in sex ratio with 978 girls per 1000 boys in the state. In 1997, Indore rate was 887 and is improved but it is still critical and we are working to improve it,” Dr Pandit said. He said that they have directed the sonography centres to perform the sonography of the patients only through authorised person.
