Indore : In view of Diwali festival, the district administration launched checking drive against substandard sweets and namkeens on Thursday and collected samples of the same various shops. Samples of the sweets and namkeen were taken from two prominent shops of the city.

A team of officials of the district administration, led by SDM Sapna Jain, collected samples of three sweets from JMD sweets shop located at Palasia and one sample of mixture from the Mamaji Namkeen, Chhawani. Talking to Free Press, SDM Jain said that in order to ensure the sale of quality and hygienic sweets and Namkeens, they have started the drive. She said that samples of Mawa, cashew nut and a sweet were taken from the JMD sweets while sample of a mixture was taken from Mamaji Sweets. The proprietor of the Mamaji Sweets is Manish Mama, who is close aid of a powerful minister of the state.
