Indore: Expecting an anti-encroachment drive by Indore Municipal Corporation following the orders of High Court, shopkeepers and handcart pullers of Malwa Mill and Patnipura area on Thursday have ‘threatened’ the BJP leaders of dire consequences in Lok Sabha elections if they are removed.
Posters and pamphlets with the ‘threat’ have been pasted on walls and shutters of shops near Malwa Mill Square were the talk of the town on Thursday. “Indore Nagar Nigam Savdhaan. Vyapario par haath dalne se pehle 100 baar soch lena ki abhi Lok Sabha Chunav Baki Hai” (Caution Indore Municipal Corporation. Think 100 times before taking any action against traders as Lok Sabha Elections are coming) However, nobody in the area knows who have pasted the threatening posters.
Ramesh Kumar, a shopkeeper, said, “I don’t know who pasted the posters. I too learnt that Indore Municipal Corporation will take action on December 28 for road widening.” Indore Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court had ordered the Indore Municipal Corporation to remove the encroachment by vegetable traders in Patnipura and Malwa Mill area with the help of police and district administration while hearing a PIL.
Indore Municipal Corporation officials were planning to remove the encroachment and to shift the vegetable market from the area on December 28 and had also given a warning to the encroachers to remove their goods before December 27. However, deputy commissioner of Indore Municipal Corporation Mahendra Singh Chouhan said, “We will not launch any drive for removing encroachment of December 28. When the action will be taken is not decided yet.”
