Indore : Over 25 officers of the State Administrative Service (SAS) posted in the city along with others will observe a day’s strike, on February 18.

The Union of SAS Officers has alleged that the political leadership is harassing the officers of their fraternity and the State Governments is also keeping an apathetic attitude towards them, particularly about their promotion.

These officers posted in the City include ADMs, SDMs, CEOs and Commissioners of various government bodies and departments will take part in the strike.

Sources said that over 200 officers of the revenue department including Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, Revenue Inspectors and even Patwaries will also join the strike.

One senior official of the SAS said that incidents of misbehavior with the government servants, especially SAS officers by politicos are increasing. He gave an example of one incident of Guna, where an MP of the rulling party misbehaved with an SDM.

The MP and his supporters beat up the SDM severely. An officer, who is in-charge of maintaining law and order, was also beaten up publicly and the police even did not lodge an FIR against the MP and his supporters.

Similarly, another SDM was humiliated publicly in Harda and Tikamgarh districts by the political leaders. The SAS officers alleged that this is not the only reason, even the State Government is also not paying attention to their problems.

Despite doing job under difficult conditions, the State Government is ignoring their demand for promotion. So, they will observe strike on February 18.

The agitating SAS officers have created a Facebook page, ‘Asar’ in which more and more SAS officers are joining and showing their solidarity to the union.
