Indore : A full-grown leopard, which was rescued by the Forest Department, was sent to Kamla Nehru Prani Sanghralaya (City Zoo) on Monday for its treatment. The animal was rescued from Dhar district.

The zoo officials said that the leopard is a full grown one and it seems it wouldn’t get calm easy. However, treatment from the zoo side has been initiated.

According to the Zoo officials, wild animals aren’t kept in the zoo after their recovery as they wan tto roam freely in their natural habitat.

“The leopard was rescued from Dhar and handed over to the Zoo authorities as it received a few injuries. On receiving guidance from the senior officials, the needful would be done,” RR Bilgayya told Free Press.

Bilgayya further said that earlier the leopard had attacked a child and since then a panic like situation prevailed in the area. Rescue teams at Dhar too tried to catch it but didn’t taste success. Later, Indore rescue team was sent for the task.

“The leopard has a few injuries, after preliminary tests and the first aid, it should be fine. But we are making sure to treat it well and on the first look the injury doesn’t look deep,” said Dr Uttam Yadav, In-charge, Kamla Nehru Prani Sanghralaya (City Zoo)

A few tests for Shivani
