Indore : Family members of a deceased 70-year-old woman created ruckus at the Gurjar hospital on Tuesday alleging negligence on the part of the doctors.

Septuagenarian Imarti Bai, a resident of Syamacharan Shukla nagar was admitted to the hospital on Monday as she reported severe chest pain.

The hospital administration asked the family members to arrange Rs 15000 for the treatment rendered to her. But they could arrange just Rs 5000. The patient was however admitted and treated in the ICU.

According to the relatives the hospital administration asked for the remaining Rs 10000 from them. Meanwhile the condition of the old lady deteriorated and she died in the hospital.

Information about the patient’s death prompted an anger outbreak resulting in a brawl between the deceased’s relatives and the hospital authorities. The disconcerted mass was pacified only when Bhanwarkuan police intervened in the matter.

However the hospital administration didn’t charge the family further for the treatment and handed over the dead body to them.

“We started the treatment immediately and gave time to the family members to deposit Rs 10,000 more. The patient was serious and later died resulting in the anger outbreak. There was no negligence on the part of our doctors,” said Hospital Manager, Rajkumar Lobhanse.
