Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 35-year- old woman sub-inspector (SI) allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance in Ratlam district, police said on Thursday.

She had consumed poisonous substance at her official residence in Ratlam on Wednesday and died during treatment at a private hospital on Thursday.

Police have recovered a hand-written suicide note from her residence. The suicide note suggests that she was depressed as she was not able to get married.

The police said that woman SI Kavita Solanki was posted at Station Road police station as woman help desk in-charge. She was on leave and had gone to meet her parents in Mandsaur district.

“She returned from her native place on Wednesday and consumed a poisonous substance at her official residence. She later informed her colleague, who took her to a hospital, where she died during treatment on Thursday,” said a police officer.

Superintendent of police (SP), Ratlam, Gaurav Tiwari said, “Suicide note suggests that she was upset as she was not able to get married. In the suicide note, she has written that she has been tired of replying people's questions regarding her marriage. A case has been registered and further investigation is on. The body would be handed over to parents after autopsy.”
