Indore : Incessant rains lashed the city on Tuesday evening, giving much needed relief to the Indoreans from high humidity.

However, the Meteorological Department officials were not ready accept that it’s monsoon rain and said that it would be cleared only if it continued on Wednesday as well.

The Regional Meteorological Department recorded 3.6 mm rains till 11.30 pm. Wind was blowing with high speed in the evening which signaled the citizens to brace up for monsoon showers. People who were returning from their offices had to face trouble as the rain forced them to stay put in the office for a few hours.

The level of humidity was quite high since morning but clouds covered the city sky making it dark in the afternoon (4.30 pm). It started raining at 5 pm and continued to lash for almost 2 hours.

The change in climatic conditions provided the much-needed relief to people. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 35.5 degrees Celsius and minimum at 25.3 degree Celsius. The level of humidity was 71 percent in the evening.

The sudden showers also exposed civic problems. Several areas were water-logged, which affected road traffic and added chaos on busy roads. The traffic points at LIG, Palasia, Industry House, Vijay Nagar, MR-9 and Collectorate were inundated, which led to massive traffic jam along the AB Road and BRTS Corridor. Two-wheeler riders ran for cover and took shelter on sideways.
