Indore : Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ratlam Division Manoj Sharma announced on Saturday that all Simhasta-related work currently going on in and around the city would be completed by January 2016. However, he did not give time frame for the Indore-Mhow gauge conversion.

Sharma, who arrived here, inspected works going on in the outskirts of the city. He began inspection from Fatehabad and visited Laxmibai Nagar, Manglia and Dewas. The DRM, who was accompanied by branch heads, conducted inspection particularly the works related to passenger and railways security. However, at the end of inspection, while talking to media, he said that all railway works linked to Simhasta fair in the city and Laxmibai Nagar would be over by January 2016.

It may be recalled that the track coming from Fatehabad and Laxmibai Nagar could not be linked with city railway station. Even meter gauge track could not be converted to broad gauge due to certain technical problems. The development work at Laxmibai Nagar platform is still pending and the platform is very crucial during the Simhasta fair, as t falls between Indore and Ujjain.

Similarly, construction of two new platforms at Bal Vinay Mandir is not yet complete and it is running behind schedule. The gauge conversion of Platform No 1 at railway station is not yet complete. All these are works are directly linked with Simhasta as very large number of pilgrims would turn up for fair, which is going to be held in Ujjain in April and May.

Nothing said over Indore-Mhow

Though, DRM Sharma made the announcement of completing the works going on in and around the city, he did not comment on Indore-Mhow gauge conversion project.

However, GM of Western Railway GC Agrawal during his visit to the city set the deadline to complete the gauge conversion work by February 29, 2016. Though, the conversion work had to complete by July 7 this year, as the mega block of the 25 km long gauge conversion was taken on February 7 announcing to complete the work in next 6 months.
