Ragging taking place in your premises: State HR panel tells MGM College admin

Indore: Chaos prevailed in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College on Saturday when a case of ragging came to light. The college received information through Sanyogitaganj police station where MP Human Rights Commission forwarded a mail regarding ragging.

MGM Medical College dean Dr Jyoti Bindal said, “We received a mail from Human Rights Commission about ragging in the college. The complaint was lodged by anonymous person with HRC in which he/she only mentioned that ragging is taking place in MGM Medical College.”

She said she has directed all departments and anti-ragging and students’ welfare committee to probe and get the details. The college didn’t have information about the complainant.Meanwhile, Sanyogitaganj CSP Jyoti Umath said, “We have informed college about it. We are waiting for college report and will act accordingly.”

Not the first complaint

  • 2016: A student lodged a complaint against senior students of PG obstetrics and gynecology for mental harassment with UGC.
  • 2017: Junior students lodged complaint against senior students with anti-ragging cell and with police. 29 students suspended after complaint.
