Indore : In a unique form of protest, a group of people gathered at Lasudia police station after midnight on Tuesday and began collecting money from passersby to raise money for an alleged bribe sought by the cops.

According to sources, Lasudia Police had established a check point at Niranjanpur Square on Tuesday. Late in the night the police stopped one Sunil and asked for the papers of the motorcycle.

Sunil alleged that despite showing all relevant documents, the police demanded Rs 2000 to let the motorcycle go. Since Sunil was not carrying the money the motorcycle was promptly sent to the police station.

Sunil turned out to be nephew of Congress corporator Sandhya Solanki, who moved a crowd towards Lasudia police station. The crowd spread a cloth on the road and began collecting money to pay the Rs 2000 demanded by the police.

Meanwhile, media got wind of the unique agitation and began conversing at the spot and the arrival of media caused the police to release the motorcycle. The police denied having demanded money and said it was a routine check.
