Posing as passengers thieves steal 2 autos

Indore : Thieves posing as passengers made away with auto-rickshaws they had hired. The robberies occurred on Saturday and in both the instances the thieves had sent the drivers for an errand and then drove away in the auto.

According to the police, the first incident occurred in Navlakha area. Sonu Khan, a resident of Madina Nagar, drives an auto to eke out a living. On Saturday, he picked up a fare in Hathipala and proceeded towards Navlakha. The man had introduced himself as Rahul and wanted to visit his aunt.

Once reached the destination, the man paid fare to Sonu but did not alight. In the meantime, Sonu stepped into a shop where he stopped to buy a recharge coupon for his mobile.

However, when Sonu came back he found the passenger and the rickshaw missing whereupon he went to the police station and filed a complaint.

The second incident occurred near Rajkumar over bridge. Raghunandan Joshi picked up a fare from Dwarikapuri and was proceeding towards Patnipura.

As they crossed Patnipura Bridge the passenger said he was thirsty and gave Rs 20 to Joshi and asked him to buy a soft drink bottle. When Joshi returned with the soft drink bottle he found the passenger and his rickshaw missing. The police have registered cases in both instances and are investigating the matter.
