Indore : Indore Crime Branch on Tuesday tasted success in cracking the case of stolen infant from MY Hospital with the arrest of a 40-year-old lady teacher from Chandan Nagar.
The arrest was made on the tip-off a citizen over Crime Watch, an initiative launched by the city police to control crimes with the help of citizens.
The police handed over the baby to his mother admitted in MY Hospital and started interrogation of the accused.
ASP (Crime) Vinay Prakah Paul said the accused was identified as Sahina Shaikh of Chandan Nagar, employed as contractual teacher in a government school was arrested on Tuesday and the baby was recovered from her.
“The accused is 40-year-old and didn’t have any baby even after three marriages. She had also reached the hospital two days before the incident but didn’t succeed. The accused again reached the hospital on February 25 and introduced herself as Sunita, a relative of Sangeeta Bheel, whose baby was stolen,” the ASP said.
CSP RC Rajpur said that the woman had taken the baby from the doctors and told his (baby’s) grand mother Bhuli Bai to take the baby for administering necessary injection.
It is to be noted that the incident had opened the security loopholes in the hospital once again. The police had also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 over any information regarding the accused.
