Indore : Khajrana police have exhumed body of a 22-year old woman, who died a week ago during treatment at a city hospital.
In her statement, the woman stated that she was being harassed by her in-laws and her husband and they forced her to consume acid. Apparently after her death, her in-laws buried her quietly and as the police got wind of it the body was exhumed for an investigation.
According to Arvind Singh Tomar, TI, Khajrana Police, Shaheen (22) wife of Iqram of Shahibagh Colony had consumed acid in February and was admitted to a private hospital.
Initially, Shaheen said that she had accidentally consumed acid and no one was to blame. However, later her parents, who are residing in Tanzim Nagar, informed the police that their daughter was being harassed by her in-laws and alleged that Shaheen was forced to drink acid.
Shaheen was discharged from the hospital and in October she complained of uneasiness and was admitted to hospital again. This time around she made a statement to the police to the effect that she was being harassed for dowry by her in-laws. The police registered a case and were investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, Shaheen was operated upon on October 28 and died on October 29. Her in-laws buried her quietly but when her mother reported the matter to the police, the body was exhumed and sent for an autopsy. The police are waiting for the autopsy report to take further action in the matter.
