Indore : In order to curb drunk driving, particularly on weekends, police launch drives throughout the city and Saturday was no exception. However, the check was particularly successful at Tower Square due to darkness as mast lights were malfunctioning.
As usual, the police set up a check-point at Tower Square but as mast lights were malfunctioning the entire square was submerged in darkness.
Though the darkness increased the risk of hit & run accidents, it drive proved a boon for the police as more than usual number of drunk drivers were nabbed.
Generally, drivers take detour when they see check points but on Saturday due to darkness the drivers could not see the police until they reached the point.
Even those who did dare to make a bid to escape were nabbed as they could not see other teams placed strategically in all directions at the square.
