Indore : DIG Rakesh Gupta gave strict instructions to the Aerodrome Road police to investigate the case of Rs 43,000 stolen from the Jet flight. He also instructed them to solve the matter as early as possible.
After some cases of stealing of cash and jewellary from Jet Airways and apathetic attitude of PS Aerodrome Road of not registering cases, DIG Rakesh Gupta summoned two officials from Jet airways including security in-charge Hemendra Mehta, IT KL Dangi and complainant Prakash Rajdev to his office, on Friday.
He reviewed the case and expressed anger over lethargic attitude of the airline and Aerodrome Police.
Talking to Free Press, the DIG said that he had given strict instruction to the officials to investigate all 3 thefts minutely. He also instructed the CISF to investigate the matter at its level.
Later, complainant Prakash Rajdev told Free Press that he travelled to Mumbai from the city by Jet Airways flight on September 16, 2013. He had kept over Rs 1 lakh in an envelope in a bag that was kept in luggage section of the aircraft. When he counted the amount at the time of making payments to the traders in Mumbai, he found Rs 43000 less. He immediately rushed to Mumbai airport and lodged a complaint. The airport authority showed them the CCTV footage and proved that the amount is not stolen at their airport and expressed doubt that the amount might be stolen at Indore airport. After returning to Indore, he tried to lodge an FIR, but it was lodged after 8 days after intervention of Gupta. On November 2014, the police gave him closure report of the matter.
Two more cases of thefts
Later two more incidents of thefts surfaced. Shyam Kalra, a businessman of Punjab, reached here arrived from Amritsar and he lost Rs 85000 and a wrist watch during the flight. No FIR was lodged. The necklace was also found missing from the bag of brother-in law of IT officer on December 10, 2014.
