Indore : Alleging illegal constructions in the City, a former corporator has lodged a complaint with various authorities, including the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) Commissioner, seeking immediate corrective measures.

Former corporator Pramanand Sisodia lodged the complaint with the authorities on the directions of Supreme Court, which on July 7, has directed that IMC city engineer should take appropriate action in accordance with law for removal of illegal and unauthorized structures.

Sisodia had moved the Apex court alleging that around 170 multi-storied buildings in Indore were ‘allowed’ to make illegal constructions thereby compounding plight of citizens. “Problems of traffic, encroachment on footpaths and destruction of drainage lines are a few problems that stemmed out of the illegal constructions,” he claimed.

The IMC, through the then Commissioner Rakesh Sharma and City Engineer Harbhajan Singh, had told the Supreme Court that it has carried out compounding of 58 buildings and removal drive at 76 structures mentioned by Sisodia.

Also, 12 structures have been completely removed; 14 cases are pending before the courts; illegal structures were not found in 8 buildings and two cases are pending in appeal, the officers told an Apex Court bench comprising Justice Anil R Dave and Justice R K Agwaral.

In an affidavit submitted with the complaint to IMC Commissioner, Principal Secretary, UAD, district collector and mayor, Sisodia rubbished the claims and sought orders issued by the IMC of compounding carried out at the buildings, which he claimed was not even provided during the hearing in Supreme Court.

“The act of compounding in the buildings highlighted by me is in contravention of laws and outside the purview of local authorities,” he said, alleging that large-scale corruption in allowing illegal structures to come up.

Sisodia asked the authorities to carry out a probe, take corrective measures and inform him about the action within three months.

11 buildings pointed out

Sisodia highlighted 11 such buildings in his complaint alleging that people are facing civic problems due to these buildings. The former corporator also highlighted buildings like Unique Hospital, Usha Nagar, Industry House, New Palasia, Suyash Hospital, AB Road, Bansi Trade Centre, MG Road, Maya Mansion Bansi Plaza, Jaipur Jewellery, MG Road, Narsinghgarh Kothi Market, Kanadia Road, JJ Towers, MG Road, Mulye Towers, MG Road and Chunnilal Onkarlal building, Bada Sarafa. He also threatened to move the Apex court again if the IMC failed to take action.
