Indore: The Lok Ayukta police caught a sub- engineer posted in the Public Health Engineering Department ( PHED) red handed while accepting bribe, on Saturday.

Acting on a complaint, the Lok Ayukta team caught the subengineer, identified as Arun Kumar Trivedi, accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Sumit Anand for sanctioning his amount of fixing a fault in pipeline at Nath Mandir.

As per information, Sumit is a contractor in the department and he had completed the work of pipeline on September 13 and 14. Anand had given a bill of Rs 98,860 for the work and was requesting Trivedi to approve the bill.

The contractor lodged a complaint with the Lok Ayukta that Trivedi has been demanding a bribe of Rs 24,000 for sanctioning the bill. The sub- engineer also called the complainant to the PHED office, located near ashwant Club, for giving the bribe money. A Lok Ayukta team laid a trap and arrested him red- handed and recovered the bribe money from his pocket. The Lok Ayukta police registered a case under Corruption Prevention Act 1988 sections 7, 13( 1) D, 13 ( 2) against the accused.
