Indore : Describing Madhya Pradesh as a land of opportunities, PHD Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday pushed for investment in the state to boost food processing sector, while announcing a conference planned by the industry body here.
It will organise ‘Make in India – Madhya Pradesh: An Investment Destination for Food processing Sector” at Hotel Radison Blu on July 3.
“Nearly 200 representatives from different industries have given their consent to participate in the conference,” said PHD Chamber of Commerce Director Durgesh Sharma.
He said that Madhya Pradesh was chosen to boost food processing in the state as it has been winning awards for agriculture production for past three years.
“MP has huge potential in food processing sector. If investors are convinced about it there is no reason they won’t invest here,” PHD Chamber of Commerce Director States Debjit Talapatra said.
He told reporters that PHD Chamber of Commerce got a survey done in the state to identify areas where investment in food processing sector will prove fruitful for the investors.
He stated that they are mostly eyeing for young entrepreneurs who are interested in food processing sector which is a need of the hour. “Most of the participations of our conference will the young entrepreneurs,” he added.
The major objectives of the conference is to highlight the agriculture and food processing potential in the State and also focus on the role of allied supporting agencies, to create awareness amongst entrepreneurs and investors about the various schemes of MOFPI, to create awareness among potential investors regarding opportunities in the sector .
Union minister of state for food processing industries, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti will be the chief guest of the conference while Kusum Singh Mehdele, minister for horticulture & food processing, will be the special guest.
