Indore : Congress MLA Jeetu Patwari along with 100 Congress activists staged demonstration at Rajiv Gandhi Square and staged a hunger strike on Wednesday when the ibus stopped at the square and the officials refused to run the bus to Rau.
The bus service for Rau was inaugurated by the Mayor, Commissioner, Collector and the IDA chairman at AICTSL office, just half-an-hour before the protest.
All the officials also travelled in the bus for few kilometres and left before reaching Rajiv Gandhi Square.
After trying to pacify Patwari for a long time, the administration arrested him with the activists and sent them to the District Jail in the same bus. Patwari continued his protest in the Jail as well.
It is to be noted that the AICTSL officials and the district administration started ibus services from AICTSL office to Rau on Wednesday. Mayor Krishna Murari Moghe inaugurated the new service during programme organised at the AICTSL office.
Rau MLA Jeetu Patwari was also present at the inaugural programme and boarded the bus along with other officials to Rau for the maiden trip of the ibus.
Other officials got down halfway but Patwari remained in the bus. When the bus reached at Rajiv Gandhi Square the officials refused to run the bus to Rau excusing no permit.
Enraged by the refusal, Patwari sat on a hunger strike in the bus and demanded the officials to take the bus to Rau as it was inaugurated for the purpose.
“I will not leave the bus and will travel in it to Rau. The bus was inaugurated by the Mayor and it was also announced by the officials to start the service from Wednesday,” Patwari said.
Patwari also called Mayor KM Moghe and IDA chairman Lalwani and talked to them about the route of the bus. Both the leaders also agreed to take the bus to Rau but AICTSL CEO Sandeep Soni refused to run the bus on the excuse of shortage of buses.
Sources said that Soni also told Patwari that he would listen only to the collector and not the Mayor.
