Indore : The injured leopardess, which was rescued from Hatpipliya village, Dewas district, by a team of Forest Department, succumbed to its injuries at City zoo on Thursday morning.
The leopardess was severely injured and it was paralysed in the hind limbs. Zoo officials performed the last rites of the wild cat in the zoo campus.
“The leopard was rescued by the forest officials from a farm in Hatpipliya village in critical conditions about two days ago. Local residents of the village informed abut the wild cat to the forest department after which he was brought to the zoo,” in-charge of city zoo Dr Uttam Yadav said.
He further said that the animal was suffering from multiple fractures and internal hemorrhage. Back portion of the leopard was paralysed and it was also suffering from dehydration as the animal had not take food from many days before it rescued.
“We have tried our best to save the beast and also called an experts’ team from Mhow Veterinary College but it didn’t respond to the treatment. We have performed the last-rites of the animal after its post-mortem,” Dr Yadav said.
Meanwhile, Forest Department officials said that it will be cleared after the post-mortem report that how the leopard was injured. They said that it might have injured after being hit by a speeding vehicle or by the attack of local villagers.
