Indore : Taking a leaf out of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)’s book, the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has made aptitude test (second paper) of the civil services preliminary examination qualifying in nature.

With this major change in the exam-2015, the MPPSC has stoked a potential controversy which was being witnessed by the UPSC as well.

The MPPSC on Thursday issued a notification for state civil service preliminary examination-2015 for filling as many as 358 posts.

The exam would be conducted on January 24, 2016 at centres in 51 districts in the state. Earlier, the MPPSC had proposed December 20 for the exam.

A closer look at the notification revealed that the MPPSC has toed the UPSC’s line by making Paper-II (Civil Services Aptitude Test or CSAT) in the civil services preliminary examination a qualifying paper with a minimum 40 per cent qualifying marks.

There will be two papers in the preliminary exam – general studies paper and general aptitude paper. As second paper has been made qualifying in nature, its marks will not be added while preparing the merit list.

The admit cards for the exam would be released from January 2 to January 22, 2016.

The candidates have been suggested to pay the fee of the exam through MPOnline. Fee will not be accepted through drafts or cheques, said that MPPSC.

The MPPSC has also issued eligibility criteria and syllabus of the exam which will be conducted in two shifts.

MPPSC secretary Manohar Dubey said that notification for main exam would be issued separately. The main exam is tentatively to commence on April 12.
