Indore : With an expenditure of whopping Rs 10,000 crore, over 2.5 lakh houses would be built for urban poor in next 5 to 7 years. These houses would be built under the PM’s Housing Scheme. Beside this mega project, the poor, who are living in illegal colonies would be given financial assistance for renovation of their houses.
This information was given by Collector P Narahari while addressing a meeting called on Saturday to discuss over housing for poor at AICTSL office. IMC Commissioner Manish Singh, Additional Collector Dilip Kumar, ADM Deepak Singh, SDMs, Tehsildars, and officials of the IMC attended the meeting. The ‘PM’s Housing for All’ scheme would be implemented effectively. Under the scheme, houses would be built in 5 to 7 years. A detailed action plan would be chalked out. Narahari further stated that for implementation of the scheme, around 200 acre of land was needed. At present, over 80 acre land was available. He instructed the revenue officers to complete earmarking work of the remaining land as soon as possible. If the officers found any encroachments on the government land, then after razing down the encroachments the land would be given to the housing scheme. He also gave necessary instructions to the officials for effective implementation of the scheme.
Houses to be built on PPP mode
The IMC Commissioner said that over Rs 10,000 crore would be spent on the project. The work of earmarking land is currently on. These houses would also be built under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Under the scheme, multi storied buildings would be built with the provision of lift. The IMC Commissioner further said that there are 175 such slums in the city, where houses can be built and flats can be given to them at the same spot. Over 386 such slums are identified and residents of that area can be given financial aid for renovation of their existing houses.
Singh also shed light on the scheme in the meeting. He also said that laying down of sewage pipeline on either sides of the Kanha River started again.
