Indore : Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV)’s efforts to attract Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students are proving futile. Against 104 seats reserved for NRIs in 34 courses, merely two have got filled.
“Only two NRI students took admission in DAVV. Both the students opted for International Institute of Professional Studies,” said CET Organizing Committee coordinator Akhilesh Singh. One student has taken admission in MBA (Management Science) course and another in MTech course.
Following poor admission scenario, the DAVV has decided to hold a special counselling for NRI students. “We will hold special counselling for filling seats under NRI quota on June 23,” said DAVV media incharge Chandan Gupta.
He said that the seats remained vacant after the special counselling will be converted into general seats which then will filled through CET counselling scheduled from June 25. The special counselling against vacant NRI quota seats will be held at Educational Multimedia Research Center from 11 am.
NRI students interested to take admission in the courses under the common entrance test will have to walk in with applications and academic documents. The NRI student also need to furnish certificate issued by Indian Diplomatic Mission or Chancellor or Commission abroad under their seal stating that the father/parent of the applicant is an Indian resident in that country.
The candidates seeking admission against NRI seats at DAVV are eligible for admission without the common entrance test. Such candidates should fulfill the eligibility requirements for the concerned programme with at least 45 percent marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination.
