Indore : The deadly swine flu claimed one more life on Monday. It was the fifth death caused by the deadly virus in this month.  Out of the six tested positive, five patients have died of the disease. This time the attack of the H1N1 virus in the city is alarming as the number of patients is increasing day by day. Eight suspected patients are still getting treatment at various hospitals in the city.

According to incharge Dean of MGM Medical College Dr Sanjay Dixit, a 37-year-old female patient, a resident of Beed village in Harda, died on Monday noon at CHL Hospital.

The patient was referred to the hospital from Harda and her samples were tested positive few days ago.

Earlier, four patients, a 39-year-old woman of Chhawani, a 35-year-old male of Badnagar, a 36-year-old patient of Gautampura and two patients from Beed, Harda fell prey to the deadly disease this month.

Dr Dixit said: “We are providing every possible medicinal support to the patients and hospitals. In the committee meeting, we have taken the case sheet of the deceased and also focusing on the treatment of the suspected patients.”

Meanwhile, the district health department has started spreading awareness on the decease among the people by placing hoardings at public places. Committee succeeded in hiding information, failed in prevention

It is to be noted that the state government has taken back the authority on speaking over swine flu from the district health department and given it to the Dean. The state government has also constituted a five-member committee consisting of the Dean, CMHO, CS, joint director, health and a professor of medicine department in MGM Medical College.

The committee was made to take immediate steps in preventing and controlling the chaotic situation but it failed to do so as the patients are increasing daily. However, the committee has managed to hide the information from the media, at a stretch.
