Indore : One of the culprits of infamous Rang Panchami violence, Kalu Dubey, fell in the trap laid by police, on Friday. The accused fled to Gujarat when his photo appeared in newspapers. The Sarafa police sought help of his friend, who convinced him to come to Ujjain, arrested him.
A resident of Palhar Nagar, Dubey was the second accused caught in the case wherein three women including a minor girl were stuck in a car when a mob of 150 people smashed their car.
Earlier, police arrested Rajkumar Atlafiya on Thursday. Dubey confessed his involvement in the nasty act and said that he had fled to Gujarat to evade arrest.
“I got terrified when I saw newspapers blowing the issue out of proportion. I thought that the police carried away by the emotions of the people who read the news story and act tough against me, so I fled,” he reportedly told the police.
Meanwhile, ASP Devendra Patidar said that the police took help of accused’s friend, who called him to Ujjain from Gujarat. He was later caught by the police.
Notably, the police had released photos of two suspects believed to be part of the mob after rummaging through the CCTV footages of the area. The police had also announced a reward of Rs2000 leading to the arrest of the accused. Further investigations into the matter are on.
